Surveys

Survey forms

Like other members of the International Group (IG), Skuld follows the IG survey requirements. In addition, Skuld has implemented a number of mechanisms and trigger factors that enable us to initiate condition surveys on vessels should we receive information that give rise to concern.

Survey trigger factors
A Condition Survey may be carried out using the following triggers:

  • All sea going vessels aged 12 years or older and on passenger vessels, irrespective of age, are subject to entry survey
  • All sea-going vessels aged 10 years or older carrying Heavy Fuel Oil (HFO) as cargo, are subject to condition survey, unless:
  1.  the vessel has undergone a P&I club conditioning survey during the previous 12 months, or
  2.  the vessel has undergone a Special Survey during the previous six  months, or
  3.  the vessel has a valid CAP 1 or CAP 2 rating with any IACS classification society
  •  If a claim raises concern regarding the quality of the vessel and/or its management
  •  If the vessel is changing its class to a classification society not approved by the club
  •  If the vessel has had port state control detention, has been blacklisted or there is other third party information indicating sub-standard conditions

Surveyors
Skuld has experienced in-house surveyors who conduct condition surveys. In addition, Skuld has approved a number of survey companies world wide which have been trained in accordance with Skuld’s requirements for condition surveys. Most of these companies are also used by other clubs and are aware of key P&I requirements.
