DO THE RIGHT THING, AT THE RIGHT TIME, AND PREVENT LOSSES

As your vessel is insured with the international Protection and
Indemnity Association SKULD, we would like to pass on a few
suggestions to assist you in reducing accidents and losses. Each
section of this guide looks at the major risks which are insured with
Skuld. By following some simple advice, you can protect your crew
and your ship, as well as saving everybody a lot of trouble. You also
please the ship’s owners. Reduced losses mean reduced insurance
premiums. By doing the right thing at the right time, everybody
benefits.

Skuld has offices in Oslo, Bergen, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Piraeus
and Hamburg and correspondents in all the major ports of the world.
You will find names, addresses and telephone numbers in the Skuld
publication ‘‘List of Correspondents’’, which should be on board your
ship.

If you need assistance, please contact our correspondents; they have
been appointed by the Association to assist you. If, for any reason, you
have difficulties in contacting Skuld’s local correspondent, contact
Skuld directly. Office details, staff home numbers and the emergency
telephone number are also noted in the ‘‘List of Correspondents’’.

In order to understand more fully the P&I insurance cover, please familiarise
yourself with our rules. Please note that this publication does not replace your
ship’s owners’ safety manuals containing the ISM Code and STCW Convention.
