Members will be aware of the continuing tragic situation affecting several West African countries that are dealing with a serious outbreak of the Ebola virus.
Most recently this virus has apparently spread to Nigeria, Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone prompting increased regional and international attention to this issue as well as the significant commitment of international resources to assist affected countries contain the outbreak.
Ships calling at the ports of these countries should take extra care and indeed may be subject to increased quarantine inspection and other health checks when calling at other countries' ports later on.
