100 participants, 25 Nationalities
We had some very international days in Oslo last week. 100 participants representing altogether 25 different nationalities gathered to complete this year's Skuld School. The 'students' were generally young professionals employed by our members and clients interested in becoming more familiar with Skuld, its people and what Skuld has to offer.
The audience was given a thorough introduction to P&I and marine insurance and was taken through Skuld's core business areas through presentations and group assignments. They were tested through 'real life' case examples and encouraged to immediately apply what they had learned through discussions and collaboration.
Skuld lecturers helped explain every side of P&I and marine insurance, replying to all kinds of tricky questions that came up. Luckily, Skuld School is not only about professional input. For instance during dinner, the open house evening at Skuld or the Oslo sightseeing, there is plenty of time for socialising, mingling and networking.
20 years of Skuld School
2014 is the 20th year of Skuld School. When founded in 1994, Skuld School was held in the Emergency Room in the basement of Skuld's offices at the time and there were only 10 participants.
Since year 2000, Skuld School has expanded to today's size. The venue is now at Hotel Continental, centrally located in Oslo.
From the very start, the lecturers have been recruited among Skuld's own staff. The way we present our knowledge has been polished along the way, continually focusing on our audience and what will be of interest to them.
What some attendants said:
" The best learning programme I've ever been to."
"Skuld people are really fantastic – super knowledge and great to be with"
" What I've learned here makes it so much easier to pick up the phone and speak to the claims handler."
All in all, judging by the feedback we've had, Skuld School 2014 seems to again have been a great success and we look forward to welcoming new young professionals to the next conference in October 2015.
