We are pleased to announce that Ruby Hassan has been elected Chair of the International Group (IG) Maritime Security Committee, effective 15 December 2025. Ruby has served on the Committee since 2019, bringing extensive experience across maritime operations and marine insurance.
The IG Maritime Security Committee is a cross-club forum that monitors and assesses security threats to the global shipping industry. It coordinates fact-based, ISPS-aligned guidance on the insurance and liability aspects of maritime security. The Committee collaborates with leading industry bodies, including ICS, BIMCO, INTERTANKO, and OCIMF, to deliver timely and practical advice that protects seafarers and supports prudent operations within the P&I insurance remit. It also shares insights across the Group to align positions on cover implications and casualty management where maritime security issues arise.
As Chair, Ruby will also maintain a watching brief on developments at the IMO Maritime Safety Committee (MSC) and become a member of the BIMCO Maritime Safety & Security Committee.
