We are pleased to announce that Daria Avdeeva has been elected Chair of the International Group (IG) Compulsory Insurance Committee, effective 15 January 2026. Daria has served on the Committee since 2019.

The IG Compulsory Insurance Committee monitors proposed and existing legal requirements on shipowners relating to compulsory insurance or financial security for liabilities that fall within the scope of cover provided by International Group Clubs, including the Maritime Labour Convention.

The Committee plays a key role in safeguarding the interests of Clubs and shipowner members by ensuring that, where appropriate, Clubs can provide insurance and documentation enabling compliance with compulsory insurance requirements. It also liaises with governmental and intergovernmental agencies on proposed legislation in this area, advocating for the importance of uniformity and a global approach to regulations. Once new measures are adopted, the Committee develops guidance on compliance processes and documentation.

As Chair, Daria will oversee the Committee’s work in assessing procedural and substantive issues and ensuring that the IG continues to provide practical, policy-aligned solutions for shipowners.

Congratulations, Daria, and best of success in your new and important role!
