The United States administration continues to escalate sanctions targeting non-US persons involved in the shipping industry.
On 4 September 2019, OFAC published an Advisory to the Maritime Petroleum Shipping Community, designated 11 vessels, 16 entities and 10 individuals, issued updated FAQs addressing the supply of bunkers to vessels carrying sanctionable Iranian products, outlines risk mitigation measures and repeats the risks involved in providing insurance for Iran related persons or activity.
