On 6 September 2017 the Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) announced the introduction of a Maritime Security Transit Corridor (MSTC) for vessels transiting the Gulf of Aden, Bab Al Mandeb, Southern Red Sea and associated waters. This action has been taken in response to recent attacks attributable to a variety of causes and will facilitate the efficient use of the naval forces provided by the 31 states which support the work of the CMF.
More information is available in the CMF Guidance on Maritime Security Transit Corridor.
